It was important that all of the races impacted by the evil were included in the decision of the Council of Elrond because they needed an alliance against Sauron, the Lord over all evil things in the Middle Earth. Once Frodo reached Rivendell the council called included Dwarves, two clans of Elves, Humans, a wizard, and a hobbit. Without the different races coming together, there would be no journey and therefore no story. The scene I am focusing on is pivotal to the rest of the story.

The scene I am analyzing occurs once Frodo has made it to Rivendell and the Council of Elrond is in session to decide the fate of the ring. Frodo flees and Boromir, who realized the corruption in his heart, fights to his death to allow Frodo to escape from the enemies chasing them. Along the way one of the human men in their group, Boromir, is corrupted by the ring and tries to steal it from Frodo. A miscellaneous group of individuals from different social classes and races band together to take the ring to the only place it can be destroyed and to save middle earth from the evil spreading through the land. His friend and wizard, Gandalf, is suspicious that it is more evil than it appears and send Frodo to the elven city of Rivendell for protection and to bring the ring to a meeting where its fate could be decided. The Fellowship of the Ring begins when a young hobbit named Frodo, inherits a magical ring that can make its wearer invisible.

Steve Higham, in his doctoral thesis for the University of Sunderland, noted in his abstract that “Tolkien’s formative years were marked by a decline in aristocratic values and, compounded by his experience of war, he lamented the passing of Edwardian England through myth.” The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a movie supporting cooperation and unison within the differentiation of social classes and races. In order to understand the purpose of the film you must understand what inspired different aspects of the book for Tolkien. Peter Jackson wanted to stay as true to the world and story that Tolkien had created. They ended up creating of 19,000 costumes for many different cultures featured in Middle Earth. They also threw in special things to costumes like embroidery on unseen items and extra layers that no one would ever even see them wearing. Every chainmail item you see was constructed piece by piece so that it was a realistic look and weight. The costume department, headed by Ngila Dickson and Richard Taylor spared no effort as well. Their swordmaster was Bob Anderson who was a well-known fencer and stunts man who stood in as Darth Vader for any dueling scenes in the original Star Wars films. Most of the actors and stunt men and women had to be trained to use their swords since they were wielding weapons made by an actual swordsmith, Peter Lyon. Some of these things include the fight scenes and costumes. This film has many spectacular components that made it such a spectacular film.
